Hard Drive Destruction for Businesses in the Inland Empire & Orange County

When a hard drive leaves your building, the data on it is still your responsibility. Our hard drive destruction service physically shreds drives and storage media so the data cannot be recovered, and every engagement is documented with a Certificate of Destruction you can hand to an auditor.

Why physical hard drive destruction

Software wiping can fail silently: a drive with bad sectors, a controller error, or an SSD with over-provisioned cells can leave readable data behind. Physical destruction removes that uncertainty. NIST Special Publication 800-88 classifies shredding and disintegration as the "Destroy" method — the strongest of its three sanitization levels, above Clear and Purge.

Physical shredding is our default method for data-bearing media. If you need a drive wiped for reuse instead, tell us before pickup so we can plan the right process.

Media we destroy

We handle the storage devices businesses retire most often:

  • 3.5" and 2.5" hard disk drives (HDDs) from desktops, servers and NAS units
  • Solid-state drives (SSDs), M.2 and NVMe modules
  • Laptop drives and drives pulled from copiers and printers
  • Backup tapes, USB flash drives and memory cards
  • Phones and tablets with internal storage

Certificates of Destruction

After destruction you receive a Certificate of Destruction documenting what was destroyed, the method used, and the date. Keep it with your records-retention files — it is the document compliance teams ask for when they review how retired equipment was handled under HIPAA, GLBA, FACTA or California privacy law.

If you track drives by serial number, send us your list with the pickup request and we'll reconcile against it.

How hard drive destruction works

  • Request a quote online or call (714) 306-3609 with a rough count of drives or devices.
  • We schedule a pickup Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, at your office, warehouse or data closet.

  • Media is physically shredded and the remaining material is recycled through CalRecycle-authorized channels.
  • You receive your Certificate of Destruction.

Frequently asked questions

Can you destroy drives that are still inside computers?
Yes. Send the whole machine — we remove the drives, destroy them, and recycle the rest of the equipment.
Is hard drive destruction free?
Business pickup is free for 5+ qualifying items. For small loads of loose drives or special handling, we'll quote after reviewing what you have — call (714) 306-3609.
Do SSDs need a different process?
SSDs store data across flash chips, so wiping is less reliable than on spinning drives. Physical shredding destroys the chips, which is why it is our default for SSDs too.
